Sharing Stories to Prevent Mistakes
How the Principle Works
with Error Prevention
AESOP is a tool used in the Error Prevention Process that helps identify all risks prior to making a decision. The concept outlines each components' combined potential to cause a problem.
The AESOP Tool facilitates the practice of "sharing stories" to keep everyone on the same page and prevent mistakes.
Use AESOP at each stage of planning and prior to, during and after performing tasks.
In Classical times, in Ancient Greece there was a storyteller by the name of Aesop, who wrote and shared short fables that were fictitious, yet useful to life and true to nature. We've all heard the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, perhaps one of the most well known of Aesop's Fables.
At EPI, we like to think that we channeled the wisdom contained within these classic fables, providing a fun and memorable way to internalize the AESOP Principles of Error Prevention. Just like Aesop's Fables, the AESOP Principle of EP is all about sharing stories.
